Speaker Biographies

Connie Jones is a Patent Attorney who assists businesses in protecting proprietary information as trade secrets. Connie works with Fortune 500 and Mid-Market Growth companies to enhance their trade secret protection by developing trade secret strategies, conducting trade secret audits, drafting trade secret opinions, and overseeing licensing agreements related to a company’s proprietary information. Connie also consults on trade secret cases after a theft has occurred or is suspected.

Prior to Altus IP, Connie practiced with the law firm Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP where she focused her practice on trade secret, patent and trademark litigation in both District Courts and at the International Trade Commission.

Connie attended the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law where she graduated Cum Laude and Order of the Coif. Connie graduated from the Honors Program at Roanoke College Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science in Physics and a Minor in Math.

Connie is active in her community including serving on the Board of Trustees of Rabun Gap Nacoochee School and on the Board of Directors of the Carolina Patent Trademark Copyright Law Association.

Ian Worrall is the Founder and CEO of Encrypted Labs, Charlotte's first Blockchain company and an early pioneer in the sector. His background specializes in Finance and Technology. Ian was recently the youngest recipient of Charlotte's Top 30 under 30 award. He became involved in the Blockchain industry in early 2013 via trading Bitcoin Futures where he quickly identified the underlying technology, Blockchain, as a “game-changing' technology that stood to disrupt many enterprise functions. Other than his extensive knowledge in the Blockchain industry, Ian is an avid investor in emerging technologies and enjoys sports, racing cars, and traveling.

Ian Worrall will be discussing Blockchain's function as an immutable database technology to counter the rising threat of data manipulation in Cyber Attacks on both the Public and Private sectors. Included in his discussion will be an overview of Enterprise Blockchain Technology, immutable data logging, and auditing of digital trails followed by a brief Q&A.

Everyone must sign in at first arriving on Microsoft Campus, no exceptions. Any Law Enforcement Officers who will be in attendance, and will be carrying need to either carry concealed or be in uniform.
