Eastern Carolina InfraGard Chapter Meeting

Wednesday, Aug 16, 2017

Time: 1:00pm – 4:00pm

The next InfraGard meeting will be held on Wednesday August 16, 2017, from 1:00pm – 4:00pm at Cisco, 7025 Kit Creek Road, Morrisville, NC 27560 (Building 5).   We will have two FBI presentations.

Loomis Fargo Presentation:

On October 4th, 1997, 17 ½ million dollars and a Loomis Fargo armored car driver named David Ghantt disappeared.  It was the second largest cash heist in U.S. history at the time.  It was the first FBI case in North Carolina to ever receive a Major Case designation.

FBI Special Agent Rozzi (SA) travelled to Mexico to attempt to locate and apprehend Ghantt before his partners could have him murdered.  Ghantt was arrested in Mexico on March 1, 1998.  The case resulted in 24 convictions, and the recovery of 95% of the stolen money.  The case has been featured on the Discovery Channel, A & E, the History Channel, and last year a movie based on the case called “Masterminds” was released in theaters nationwide.

Polygraph presentation:

As the FBI’s only polygraph examiner in North Carolina, SA Rozzi has conducted approximately 2,500 exams over the last 14 years.  SA Rozzi is the 234th polygraph examiner in the 109 year history of the FBI.  SA Rozzi performs a polygraph test for every FBI applicant with a North Carolina address and travels to other FBI Divisions to test their employees for their Security Clearances.  SA Rozzi administers polygraph examinations for FBI violations including missing children investigations to espionage and terrorism.  SA Rozzi’s presentation will clarify and debunk the myths and rumors surrounding a polygraph examination and will conduct a demonstration on one of the InfraGard attendees.

Presenter biography:

Special Agent Mark Rozzi is 25 year veteran of the FBI.  SA Rozzi’s extensive experience include seven years as the FBI Bank Robbery Coordinator, four years as the FBI Crimes against Children Coordinator, and the last 14 years as a FBI Polygraph Examiner.  SA Rozzi also served in several collateral duties including the FBI Behavioral Analysis Coordinator/Profiler (23 years), SWAT Team (13 years), and Crisis Negotiation Team (10 years).  SA Rozzi was formerly a police officer in Rochester, NY.
