Hello InfraGard, Eastern Carolina Chapter member,
Please join us for our bi-monthly Eastern Carolina InfraGard meeting on Wednesday December 11th at Cisco from 1-4pm.
Tony Crass of Woodstar Labs will give two presentations on Improving Cybersecurity Posture Across IT & OS Infrastructures and Building a Practical Incident Response Team .
Improving Cybersecurity Posture Across IT & OT Infrastructures. This presentation will look at traditional information technology infrastructure and operational technology environments with a specific focus on IoT (“Internet of Things”) devices and how they have gained prevalence not only in home use but in particular within business offices and manufacturing plants. This will include some review, and sharing, of identified risks of these types of devices and other non-traditional threat vectors and considerations for reducing risks around those devices. The presentation is focused on raising awareness around these challenges containing some technical aspects but mainly around awareness at the business level to enact and support efforts to reduce associated risks.
Building a Practical Incident Response Program Incidents are pervasive. Response is, at its best, challenging. As cyber security professionals at both leadership and practitioner levels. Data such as this: “The first six months of 2019 have seen more than 3,800 publicly disclosed breaches exposing an incredible 4.1 billion compromised records” Davey Winder (Forbes) are the new reality we must prepare to deal with on a daily basis. This presentation will provide a brief overview of incident response processes and how they connect to other functions in cyber security, considerations for forming an incident response team, important questions to consider during the process, and will wrap up with one or more mini-exercises (time permitting). The presentation adapted from a 2-day in-depth training course for both leadership and operators and will bring value to both groups.
